Five miles northwest of Le Nid de Merles lies the town of
Pont l'Eveque, famous for its cheese since the 13th century. There you
will find everything you will need for your stay in the pastoral countryside.
The tiny village of Blangy-le-Chateau lies only two miles away with a
boulangerie/patisserie for your daily baguette, a bar for your morning
coffee, a small grocery store, post office and a weekly produce market.
You can explore the local countryside by foot on three separate footpaths
that traverse the charming local terrain.
Within a half-hour's drive are the famous towns of Deauville, Trouville
and Honfleur. Lovely daily excursions include visits to Mont St. Michel,
the beaches of Normandy, the Caen war memorial and famous Bayeux tapestry.
If you'd like to relax at home, there is a local market every day of the
week in a different nearby village to get your fresh produce.
You can take the train from either Pont l'Eveque or Liseux to Paris or
other destinations.
